Petra; rose-red city at the end of the day

June 14, 2016 by Zoe Dawes 6 Comments
Sunset at Petra is a mystical time. The imposing buildings blush pink in the fading light as the seering heat fades and the day gradually cools down. The Treasury at sunset Earlier on, the rainbow colours of the striated stone glow in the midday sun and the disant mountains shimmer in a...

Horse-riding on the Cami de Cavalls, Menorca

May 31, 2016 by Zoe Dawes 13 Comments
As we neared the sandy hillock, a flash of water flittered across the skyline. A little breeze riffled across the grass and a seagull cried out as it wheeled away towards the distant town. The sea slowly spread out in shades of turquoise, jade green, deep purple and bright blue. My...

April 10, 2016 by Zoe Dawes 13 Comments
Dunluce Castle and the Giant’s Causeway from Magheracross Viewpoint It’s not often that a place truly exceeds expectations, is it? Often we’re a bit disappointed, having heard good things about a book, film, restaurant or place, which then struggles to live up to our imagination. The Causeway Coast on Northern...

This magnificent Yew Tree has been growing in the This magnificent Yew Tree has been growing in the woods on Warton Crag in north #Lancashire for hundreds of years. It’s surrounded by bright green moss-covered stones that look like sleeping gnomes ... Walked up here this week along muddy paths above flooded fields on the one sunny afternoon we’ve had recently. I love the feeling of ageless calm that permeates our ancient woodlands ...

From today’s #dailywalk at Half Moon Bay in Heys From today’s #dailywalk at Half Moon Bay in Heysham overlooking #Morecambe Bay 🤗 This sculpture is called ‘The Ship’ by artist Anna Gillespie @annagillespiesculpture 👍 It was commissioned by @mb_partnership and ‘celebrates Morecambe Bay's landscape and maritime heritage, and reflects the importance of seaborne trade in bringing news, innovation and shaping the character of the area.

‘Symbolically positioned on the boundary between land and sea, benefitting from dramatic backdrops of the tides, horizon and stunning coastal sunsets, the outline of a ship's hull is mounted with two opposing figures at each end, one facing 'the new' of Heysham Nuclear Power Station and the other facing 'the old' of the ancient monument of St Patrick's Chapel.’

I love its powerful symmetry and stark beauty. I sat on the stone bench between the figures and gazed out towards the Lake District fells. It was peaceful, reassuring and somehow gave a sense of hope amidst all the grim news ❤️

Big shout-out to Anne, Joanne and Service Team at Big shout-out to Anne, Joanne and Service Team at @pyeford (Morecambe) for bringing my car battery back to life! It’s very common problem at the moment. I called #FordAssist who sent #AA Jake who gave battery big charge so I could drive it to #Morecambe. They tested it and put it on boost charge for a while. I’d not been driving enough in #lockdown 🙄 so they suggested regular running engine on drive just to keep battery going. Very impressed with social-distancing & #covid19 protectionism the Showroom👍

Proud to be Ambassador for this Ford UK dealership 🤗 l love my Quirkymobile!

With new #Covid19 restrictions in place I’m very lucky having a plethora (love that word!!!) of lovely places to exercise locally. So important to get outdoors for mental and emotional #wellbeing as well as physical exercise 🥾❄️🤗

(The Quirkymobile is coping VERY well in this winter cold!)
